Our second offering is a short work of non-fiction. Part biography, part memoir, and part history, it tells the story of a special place in West Africa. Ibrahima Kodio and I first crossed paths in 2012 when I was on my first medical mission trip to Mali. We became fast friends and I ended up inviting him to Kansas City that summer. It was there that I learned about Grace School. A Christian school in a Muslim country, Ibrahima was running it with the small amount of money he was able to scrape together translating, installing solar panels, and teaching at a public school.
Grace Upon Grace is about Ibrahima, about Grace School, and about the Dogon area of Mali. It's also about hope, faith, and love, and the universality of our common family. It will be a wonderful addition to the Elpida roster and I'm looking forward to the tentative release date of July 15 with great anticipation. I think it will be a small but important step towards greater peace in the world. And that's all we can ask for really, isn't it?
